At OnSite-OccuHealth, we understand the critical role school transportation drivers play in the safety of our children. That's why we're proud to offer comprehensive T8 Physical Exams, officially known as School Transportation Driver Medical Examinations, in full compliance with the Ohio Department of Education's stringent requirements. Our goal? To make this essential annual process as smooth and straightforward as possible for you.
The T8 Physical Exam is a mandatory medical examination required for all Ohio school bus and school van drivers. It's designed to ensure that drivers meet the necessary physical and mental health standards to safely operate a school vehicle and protect their precious cargo.
Annual Necessity: A T8 Physical Form must be completed annually for each school year. This form requires evaluation by a physician, Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP), or Physician Assistant (PA) who is credentialed in the State of Ohio.
Early Bird Gets the Worm: You can get a jump start on the next school year's T8 Physical Form starting May 1st. Don't procrastinate!
The Hard Deadline: All drivers must successfully pass their T8 School Transportation Driver Medical Examination and have the information officially entered into the state system prior to September 1st of the new school year.
Consequences of Delay: Failure to submit this critical data by the deadline will result in notification from the State to your employer, indicating your invalid driver status. Trust us, no one wants that headache. Avoid the scramble!
To ensure a quick and efficient examination, please come prepared with the following:
Glasses/Contacts: If you wear corrective lenses, please bring them with you for your vision assessment.
Medication List: Bring a current list of all your prescription medications, including dosages.
Medical Concerns? Bring Documentation! If you have any medical conditions that you are concerned might impact your ability to drive a school bus or van, we highly recommend bringing a statement from your primary care physician. This statement should confirm their professional opinion that you are safe to drive, despite your condition. This proactive step can often prevent delays or further requirements.
Questions? We're Here to Help: If you have any medical conditions and are unsure if they might prohibit you from driving, please don't hesitate to call our office. We're happy to answer your questions and guide you on how best to prepare for your T8 School Transportation Driver Exam. We'd rather you call ahead than be surprised on exam day.
The T8 School Transportation Driver Exam costs just $85. This fee includes a comprehensive audiogram, an essential part of the examination.
